    Student Voices Project

    A campus wide project at Santa Ana College was started to give students a forum to express how they handled the effects of the pandemic in their personal lives. The opening student work was produced by my student, Saul Alcaraz, using Pixton and PowerPoint to describe what happened to him when he contracted COVID-19. Other students in the video who submitted written work are Phat, Alejandra and Clara.

    Student practice writing imperatives, declaratives, interrogatives and exclamatory sentences. Using Padlet during class makes the activity interactive and a way to collect student work.

    Groups discussed how to manage kitchen hardware repairs with a $600 budget.

    ESL Level Mixer Activity

    Students from my ESL Beginning High class interviewed students in Intermediate Low. The mixer allowed Beginning High students become familiar with the next ESL level they would be promoted to at the end of the semester.

    Academic ESL 706 students explained to a student audience how to write 'SMART' goals. Audience members participated by writing down one goal on a SMART Goals mini-handout the group prepared for the presentation.

    Students collaborated on a project-based learning assignment. They researched certificate programs offered at SAC SCE, and presented the advantages of completing a certificate program. In this short segment, students discuss Automotive Technology and Biotechnology certificates, the cost for each program, starting salaries, and the duration for each program.

    As part of our class celebration on the last day, I led students in a line dance to Billy Ray Cyrus' song, "Achy Breaky Heart."

    This was the last day of class, and students were presented with their certificates of promotion. Hooray!
